Volusia County Half Cent Projects in New Smyrna Beach and Samsula areas

The County is proposing multiple projects throughout the County for road improvements. While many New Smyrna Beach residents will note the major improvements they are proposing: extending William Blvd to SR 44 from Pioneer Trail and to 4-lane Sugar Mill from SR 44 to Pioneer Trail; they are also proposing paving many dirt roads in the Samsula area.

Per http://vciserv.co.volusia.fl.us/agenda/agendas/20190416/Item-11-6607.pdf, this includes: Hunting Camp Rd, South Samsula Drive, Honey Dew Lane, South Cucumber Lane, Lettuce Lane, Watermelon Lane, Pepper Lane, Strawberry Lane, Parsley Lane, Pampas Nursery Road, and Hughes Road.

Volusia County residents receive TRIM (Truth in Millage) notices

All Volusia County residents were mailed, and many received their TRIM (Truth in Millage) notices over the weekend. The Property Appraiser’s office has created a page explaining what the TRIM notice is comprised of, and better explains each section of this notice.

Please visit http://vcpa.vcgov.org/trimTool.html for a better explanation.

It is important to note the Property Appraiser’s office does values only. You will want to pay close attention to each taxing authorities public hearing dates and times as this is where they vote to adopt their proposed rates. What this means to you is they are voting to set the rates which can equate to increases, and sometimes decreases in your tax bill. If you disagree with the amount of your taxes, YOU MUST ATTEND these meetings and let your voice be heard!

This is also a good time to review the exemptions you are currently getting as there are a number of them… many of which can save you big bucks! Along with the homestead exemption, there are additional senior exemptions, disability exemptions, veteran and first responder exemptions, and many more!

Information on all exemptions can be viewed at http://vcpa.vcgov.org/exemptions.html.
